Also the 14"/16" M1 based MBPs still have the better display panels, active cooling, more connection ports and also do support more than connecting just one external display (.for the M1/M2 AIR in order to support more than one external monitor, you would need an additional auxiliary DisplayLink dock ). The later, since the AIR M2 doesn't have any fans and so no active dynamical cooling if over long time heavily stressed, which in contrast means it could CPU/GPU wise throttle much earlier in order to get not too hot here. The rest depends ( as always) on what you're going to use it commonly for and if you work on a daily base with a bunch of huge longer sustained processes or not.

The bigger SSDs >= 512 GB should operate faster here and RAM well, you can never have enough of it for certain tasks. Why shouldn't it? - It's even slightly more powerful than it's predecessor the Air M1, just make sure you get a more moderate SSD and more RAM than the basic 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM. But I’m wondering if the new Air M2 has enough horsepower (my aging MacBook uses an Intel processor). Glad that Affinity didn't go the subscription route to allow us to choose.I’m going to get a MacBook, without question.

At least you can stay with V1 and wait until you think it's worth it.

There will be new 2.x updates like how V1 got them, so V2 will still be relevant for some time until V3 comes around. That said, if you don't need stuff like that then it's probably better to just wait for an update that does improve your particular workflow. If you need to work on documents with reference lists then Publisher is a clear improvement for that. If you work with vectors then the Shape Builder Tool, Knife Tool, and Mesh Warp will prove very useful for designing over V1. If you are photographer I think the non-destructive Develop Persona for RAWs and Mesh Warp Live Filter will be enough to entice. It is a lot easier to work between Photo, Designer, and Publisher now with the added Studio Link features by having shared brushes, assets, etc. If you already own all three of V1 and switch between them constantly, then yes, I would say that it's definitely worth it. It really depends on what you actually do.
